Locations

Location entities -- media, organize, properties, and profile.

A location is a place where scenes occur. Locations are project-level entities reused across episodes. They appear on the Assets page.

Click New Location to create one. Supply a name and (optionally) a custom ID.

In Shot Context, assign a location to a shot. The location's starred media image is then available as an input to recipe steps that generate the shot's background.

Media

MediaOrganizePropertiesProfile

The location's Media Gallery holds generated backgrounds and reference imagery. Star the primary image -- this is the one used as the reference background when running shot composition recipes that reference this location.

Organize

MediaOrganizePropertiesProfile

The Organize view is a dedicated workspace for arranging and curating this location's media -- reviewing the gallery and tidying what you've generated.

Properties

MediaOrganizePropertiesProfile

Location properties are split into three sections:

Core

Name, description, and notes.

Story

Setting description, history, atmosphere, significance to the story. On looks, Story properties are inherited read-only from the base location.

Appearance

Physical description, lighting notes, architectural style, colour palette. On looks, Appearance properties can be overridden independently.

Profile

MediaOrganizePropertiesProfile

The Location Profile provides a rich document workspace for reference material -- written descriptions, mood boards, notes. Use this for anything that helps define the look and feel of the space.

Looks

Locations support looks for different versions of the same space:

  • Time-of-day looks (morning interior vs night exterior)
  • Weather or season looks
  • Story-state looks (before and after an event)

Looks inherit Story properties from the base location but can have independent Appearance properties. See Looks for how the inheritance works.
